Nalorphine hydrochloride is a derivative of morphine that is used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Nalorphine hydrochloride

Nalorphine hydrochloride is a derivative of morphine that is used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Nalorphine is a prescription drug and should be carried by anyone who has been prescribed opioids for chronic pain or who is at risk of an opioid overdose.

If you are prescribed opioids for chronic pain, it is important to have nalorphine with that if Opioids results in overdose. Nalorphine can used in 2 ways:
  • Injection
  • Nasal Spray
It is important to know how to use nalorphine and to be familiar with the signs of an opioid overdose.

If you witness someone experiencing an opioid overdose, call your countries emergency number immediately and administer nalorphine if you have it.

Overdose of opioid can results in your death. Nalorphine is one of the safest to save your life from death by overdose of opioid.

Interactions

Nalorphine hydrochloride may cause additive effects when combined with other medicines, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal treatments.

Before starting nalorphine hydrochloride therapy, inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking.

Side effects

Nalorphine hydrochloride may cause serious side effects, including:

• Breathing problems (respiratory depression). Nalorphine hydrochloride can slow or stop your breathing. Death may occur if you take nalorphine hydrochloride with other medicines that can cause respiratory depression, such as benzodiazepines, alcohol, or barbiturates.

• Allergic reactions. Nalorphine hydrochloride can cause a severe allergic reaction.

Levallorphan tartrate

A study published in the Lancet in 2018 found that Narcan was associated with a significant increase in the chance of survival among people who had overdosed on opioids.

Narcan is available as an injectable medication and as a nasal spray. The injectable form of Narcan is typically used in an emergency.



Levallorphan tartrate: a novel opioid agonist

  • It is a potent and selective ligand at the mu-opioid receptor, and has a high affinity for this receptor subtype.
  • Levallorphan tartrate has been shown to be analgesic in a variety of animal models of pain, and has a good safety and tolerability profile in humans.
  • The drug is currently in clinical trials for the treatment of chronic pain, and has potential to be an effective treatment for this condition.
  • The mu-opioid receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor that is widely distributed throughout the brain and spinal cord.
  • It is involved in the perception and modulation of pain, as well as in other physiological processes such as reward, addiction, and respiration (5-7).
  • LT is a potent mu-opioid receptor agonist, with an EC50 of approximately 2 nM (1). It has high affinity for this receptor subtype, and also has a good safety and tolerability profile in humans.
  • LT was recently approved for the treatment of pain in the European Union, and is currently being investigated in clinical trials for the treatment of chronic pain in the United States.


Naloxone hydrochloride

  • Naloxone is a lifesaving drug and should be carried by anyone who has been prescribed opioids for chronic pain or who is at risk of an opioid overdose.
  • It is necessary to know how to use naloxone and to be familiar with the signs of an opioid overdose.
  • If you witness someone experiencing an opioid overdose, call your country's emergency number immediately and administer naloxone if you have it.
  • It's a drug that is used to treat narcotic overdoses and can help people who are having trouble breathing.
  • When used in combination with counseling and other support services, naloxone can help people who are addicted to opioids to stop using them.
