Role of an Individual in Conservation of Natural Resources

Conservation of Energy, Conservation of Water, Conservation of Soil, Conservation of Food Resources, Conservation of Forest

Conservation of Energy

  • Don't leave the room with the light on, the fan running, or any other appliances running.
  • For cooking, use solar heaters.
  • Sunlight should be used instead of a dryer to dry the cloth.
  • Pressure cookers should always be used
  • Using LED bulbs that are energy efficient.
  • Switching off electrical appliances when there’s no use.
  • Instead of using AC and ai coolers, plant trees near the house for cool breezes.
  • For short distances, bike or walk instead of using a scooter.
  • Use public transport

Conservation of Water

  • Whenever possible, use as little water as possible.
  • Check for water leaks and repair them.
  • Make sure that pipes are not leaking water and that they are repaired properly.
  • Wash the courtyard, carpets, etc. with the soapy water after washing clothes.
  • Drip irrigation should be used.
  • All houses should be equipped with rainwater harvesting systems.
  • All industries and institutions can install sewage treatment plants.
  • Keeping the water faucets running continuously is not a good idea.
  • Evening is the best time to water plants.
  • Wash the courtyards, driving ways, etc. with the leftover soapy water after washing clothes.

Conservation of Soil

  • Trees, herbs, and shrubs are some of the different kinds of plants you can grow.
  • Water should not be used in strong flows during irrigation.
  • In your garden and open spaces, plant different types of plants, herbs, trees, and grass to tie the soil together and prevent erosion.
  • Using compost from kitchen wastes.
  • Avoid uprooting trees as much as possible when building the house.
  • Plants should be fertilized with nature manure.
  • Sprinkler irrigation can prevent soil erosion.
  • Plant mixed crops in order to avoid soil nutrient depletion.

Conservation of Food Resources

  • Ensure you have enough food to eat.
  • Food should not be wasted; give it to someone before it spoils.
  • Food grains shouldn't be stored in large quantities and should be protected from insects.

Conservation of Forest

  • Non-timber products should be used.
  • Increase your tree planting.
  • Not using one-time usable items such as plastic cups.
  • It is important to control over-grassing.
  • Paper and fuel should be used as little as possible.
  • The construction of industrial projects, roads, and dams in forest areas should be avoided.

Resource equitability for sustainable living:

  • Sustainable development - Environment that is healthy, but doesn't damage natural resources-
  • Unsustainable development - A consequence of overusing natural resources is the degradation of the environment.
  • Lifestyle in developed countries - Its natural resources account for 88% of its natural resources, while global income accounts for 85%. Pollution and consumption are higher.
  • Lifestyle in less developed countries - Globally, 78% of the world's population lives here, 12% of the natural resources are here, and 15% of the total income is here.
  • Causes unsustainability - MDCs versus LDCs are the main causes.
  • Sustainable lifestyle - In LDCs, natural resources should be diverted from MDCs as part of reducing the use of natural resources. It will lead to a reduction of the gap between developing and developed countries, resulting in sustainable development of the entire world

Different ways to conserve natural energy sources

  • The natural resources are being conserved by a variety of government ministries and national and international agencies.
  • Environmental education can be imparted in schools by including it in the curricula.
  • The National Park Service is taking measures to protect natural resources.
  • Non-renewable resources can be reduced, reused and recycled.
  • Humans must disturb non-human animals only for the purposes of basic needs.
  • Forest resources must be protected by planting trees more and more.
  • Finding alternative energy sources.
  • Increasing use of biogas and biofuels.
  • Through prevention of industrial wastes being dumped in rivers. In order to preserve the marine life, this is necessary.
  • There must be no overgrazing. There must also be a ban on poaching.
