Procedure for Operation and Cleaning of Metal Detector

1.0 PRE STARTUP

1.1 Ensure that no remains of previous product/ batch are present.
1.2 Visually check the equipment and area for its cleanliness.
1.3 Ensure “CLEANED” label on the equipment.
1.4 Ensure specified temperature and relative humidity of the area.
1.5 Ensure that the equipment is getting single phase alternating current supply.
1.6 Ensure that the metal detector is in working condition.
1.7 Ensure proper fitting & inclination of acrylic feeding chute.
1.8 Ensure that the metal detector is in ferrous particle detection mode, by passing specimen supplied with the equipment for calibration/ verification of metal detector.
1.9 Ensure that the operator is wearing proper gown, gloves and nose mask.
1.10 Check the equipment usage log and ensure that equipment cleaning operation has been recorded.

2.0 OPERATION

2.1 Replace “CLEANED” label with “UNDER PROCESS” label.
2.2 Switch “On” the equipment & wait for some time.
2.3 Pass the tablets to be detected through feeding chute.
2.4 Collect the detected tablets, free from metal in a double poly bag lined plastic containers.
2.5 Label & seal the containers.
2.6 After completion of the operation, transfer inspected tablets to tablet store.
2.7 Replace “UNDER PROCESS” label with “TO BE CLEANED” label.

3.0 CLEANING

3.1 Ensure “TO BE CLEANED” label is fixed on the metal detector.
3.2 Ensure power supply is switched off.
3.3 Dismantle and clean the equipment & its parts with lint free cloth thoroughly.
3.4 Wash parts with raw water followed by 0.1 % w/v Teepol solution.
3.5 Wash with raw water to remove the traces of Teepol solution.
3.6 Finally wash with purified water & send rinse water sample intimation to QA for removal of traces.
3.7 Assemble the cleaned parts on the metal detector.
3.8 Record cleaning details in equipment usage & cleaning log.
3.9 Affix a “CLEANED” label on a metal detector.
